105.5.21 Fumigation and Insecticidal Fogging

Specific Responsibilities for Fumigation/Fogging:

  • Fire Department Notification: You must notify the Fire Department dispatch center immediately before beginning the operation and again immediately after it is completed and the building is deemed safe for entry.
  • Secure the Premises: Before introducing the fumigant, you must verify that the building is unoccupied and that all entry points are secured and posted with warning signs.
  • Eliminate Ignition Sources: You must extinguish all open flames and shut down all heat-producing appliances or other potential ignition sources within the fumigation area.
  • Breathing Apparatus: Maintain approved self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) on-site and ready for use during the operation.
  • Fire Watch: If required by the Fire Marshal, you must provide a continuous fire watch of the premises for the duration of the operation.
