105.5.33 Miscellaneous Combustible Storage

Specific Responsibilities for Miscellaneous Combustible Storage:

• Maintain Storage Arrangement: You must maintain the approved storage arrangement, including maximum pile sizes, aisle widths, and clearance between piles and the building structure.
• Sprinkler Clearance: A minimum of 18 inches of clearance must be maintained between the top of the storage and the sprinkler head deflectors (36 inches for certain high-piled storage).
• Control Ignition Sources: Prohibit smoking and open flames in the storage area. Keep storage clear of heating and electrical equipment.
• Housekeeping: Regularly clean the area to prevent the accumulation of loose combustible debris.
• Outdoor Storage: If storage is outdoors, it must not be located where it would block fire lanes, access to buildings, or fire protection equipment. Maintain separation from property lines and buildings as required.
