Specific Responsibilities for Outdoor Events:

  • Maintain Egress: All crowd aisles, exit paths, and exit openings must be kept clear and unobstructed throughout the event.
  • Control Ignition Sources: Strictly control all open flames, cooking operations, and temporary heating devices. Cooking booths must be separated from other booths and the public. "No Smoking" policies must be enforced where required.
  • Fire Extinguishers: Ensure that all required portable fire extinguishers are in their designated locations (e.g., cooking tents, generator areas), are accessible, and are fully charged.
  • Emergency Plan: You are responsible for implementing the approved fire safety or emergency action plan. Ensure all event staff and volunteers know their roles, the evacuation plan, and how to report an emergency.
  • Vehicle and Generator Safety: Ensure vehicles are not parked in fire lanes. Keep generators and other fuel-powered equipment separated from the public and combustible materials. Have a plan for safe refueling.
