105.5.6 Cellulose Nitrate Film

Specific Responsibilities for Cellulose Nitrate Film:

• Storage in Vaults/Cabinets: You must store all cellulose nitrate film in approved, vented vaults or cabinets as specified by NFPA 40.
• Sprinkler Protection: The approved automatic sprinkler system in the storage vault and handling areas must be maintained in a fully operational state.
• Prohibited Items: No other storage, combustible materials, or heat-producing devices are allowed in rooms where nitrate film is handled or stored.
• Waste Handling: All scrap and waste film must be kept submerged in water in a covered metal can and removed from the facility daily.
• Projection Booths: If used for projection, the projection booth must be continuously maintained with its approved fire protection features, including fire shutters and ventilation.
