105.5.8 Combustible Fibers

Specific Responsibilities for Combustible Fibers:

  • Storage Arrangement: You must maintain the approved storage arrangement, including maximum pile sizes, aisle widths, and clearance between piles and the building structure.
  • Control Ignition Sources: No smoking or open flames are permitted in fiber storage areas. All heating and electrical equipment must be maintained and kept clear of the storage.
  • Housekeeping: Regularly clean the area to prevent the accumulation of loose combustible fibers on floors, ledges, and equipment.
  • Sprinkler Clearance: A minimum of 18 inches of clearance must be maintained between the top of the fiber storage and the sprinkler head deflectors.
