Human Trafficking us more common than you think - call 1-888-373-7888 or text 233-733

State law (civil code § 52.6) requires that certain types of businesses post information and resources regarding human trafficking. These businesses include:

  • Hair salons, nail salons, and skin care businesses
  • Bars (alcohol-serving establishments that do not operate as restaurants)
  • Hotels, motels, and bed and breakfasts
  • Massage parlors

In light of the upcoming Super Bowl and the increased number of visitors expected across the region, the County of San Mateo has asked cities to help distribute human trafficking awareness posters to local businesses.

Posters are currently being distributed and are also available for download here: https://www.smcgov.org/da/human-trafficking-prevention-and-enforcement-initiative. If you need additional copies, posters are available for pickup at:

  • City Hall - 400 Grand Avenue
  • Economic Advancement Center - 366 Grand Avenue
  • Library | Parks & Recreation Center - 901 Civic Campus Way

We encourage you to please post these materials in a visible area of your business to help raise awareness and ensure compliance with state requirements. Thank you for your partnership in helping keep our community safe.
