Youth in Government 2026

What is Youth in Government? 

Youth in Government is an annual program that is intended for high school juniors and seniors who live in South San Francisco. Students will learn how the City operates directly from those who oversee the day-to-day operations. YIG is a 4-week program where selected participants will: 

  • Be paired with department directors/managers 
  • Tour City facilities 
  • Meet and hear from SSF City Councilmembers 

Benefits:

  • Create and build your professional network with City leaders 
  • Learn how to write a staff report 
  • Participate in a mock City Council Meeting in the City Council Chambers!
