Mooring Regulations
South San Francisco is dedicated to improving safety and access at Oyster Point, with the removal of abandoned and blighted vessels.
This progress implements SSFMC Chapter 8.78: Mooring Regulations which gives the City authority to address derelict boats in the City’s navigable waterways. Previous to the adoptions of these regulations in 2024, vessels could remain idle in the water for months.
Under this ordinance, the City can issue notice and proceed with removal with 10 days’ notice to vessel owners and the availability of the City’s on-call salvage companies. The represents a critical step forward in preserving South San Francisco’s waterfront and ensuring that Oyster Point remains a resource for all to enjoy.
