Diaper Donations

About the Program

SSFFD with Diaper Bin at Station 61 The South San Francisco Fire Department and the YMCA Community Resource Center have partnered to help local families access one of the most essential needs for young children: diapers.

For many families already facing financial hardship, the cost of diapers can create an additional burden. The average cost of disposable diapers in the United States is approximately $70 per month, or about $840 per year for one child. As demand for assistance continues to grow, this partnership was created to help bridge the gap and provide meaningful support to families in need throughout the community.

The program is made possible through a community grant secured by the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 1507 – South San Francisco, with support from Genentech. Together, the partnership helps ensure families can access critical supplies while preserving dignity and stability at home.

How It Works

Community members can donate unopened packages of diapers at designated collection bins located throughout South San Francisco.

Donated diapers are collected daily by the South San Francisco Fire Department and transported to a City storage facility. From there, the YMCA Community Resource Center distributes the diapers directly to local families who need assistance.

Donation bins are currently available at:

  • Fire Administration — 480 N Canal St
  • Station 64 — 2350 Galway Dr.
  • Station 65 — 1151 South San Francisco Dr.
  • Library | Parks & Recreation Center — 901 Civic Campus Way
