105.5.39 Organic Coatings

Specific Responsibilities for Organic Coatings:

• Control Ignition Sources: You must strictly control all ignition sources in the manufacturing and storage areas. All electrical equipment must be rated for the hazardous location.
• Ventilation: The mechanical ventilation system must be maintained and operated to prevent the accumulation of flammable vapors.
• Spill Control & Grounding: Maintain all spill control, grounding, and bonding systems to prevent static discharge and contain spills.
• Process Safety: All process vessels, piping, and safety controls (e.g., emergency shutoffs, pressure relief) must be maintained in good working order.
• Employee Training: Ensure employees are trained on the hazards of the materials and processes, including proper procedures for safe operation and emergency response.
