105.5.54 Wood Products

Specific Responsibilities for Wood Products:

• Maintain Pile Sizes and Separation: You must maintain the approved pile sizes and the required clear space between piles and to property lines, buildings, and fire apparatus access roads.
• Pile Management: You must monitor piles for internal heat generation (composting) and have a plan to rotate or disassemble piles that are overheating.
• Control Ignition Sources: Prohibit all smoking, open flames, and hot work near the storage piles.
• Control Weeds and Debris: The area around the storage piles must be kept clear of weeds, grass, and other combustible debris to provide a fire break.
• Fire Lanes: All designated fire apparatus access roads must be maintained to their required width and be capable of supporting fire apparatus.
