105.5.36 Open Burning

Specific Responsibilities for Open Burning:

  • Constant Attendance: The fire must be constantly attended by a competent person until it is completely extinguished.
  • Extinguishing Equipment: A garden hose connected to a water supply, or other approved fire-extinguishing equipment, must be readily available at the burn site.
  • Follow Conditions: You must adhere to all specific conditions listed on your permit, which may include allowable burn hours, wind speed restrictions, and required clearances from structures and combustible materials.
  • Discontinuance: You must immediately extinguish the fire if ordered to do so by the fire department or if atmospheric conditions become unsafe.
  • Prohibited Materials: Do not burn rubbish, trash, finished lumber, or any material that produces dense, offensive smoke.
