105.5.49 Spraying or Dipping

Specific Responsibilities for Spraying or Dipping:

• Fire Suppression System: The automatic fire suppression system for the spray booth or dip tank must be maintained in a fully operational state.
• Ventilation: The mechanical ventilation system must be operated during all spraying or dipping operations and for a sufficient time after to exhaust all vapors. Regularly inspect filters and ducts for residue buildup.
• Control Ignition Sources: You must eliminate all ignition sources from the spray area. All electrical equipment must be rated for the hazardous location.
• Housekeeping: Prevent the accumulation of combustible residue on walls, floors, and equipment. Clean the area regularly using non-sparking tools.
• Storage: Store all flammable and combustible liquids in approved, covered containers when not in use.
