105.5.56 Temporary Heating or Cooking in Wildfire Risk Areas

Specific Responsibilities for Heating/Cooking in Wildfire Areas:

  • Clearance to Vegetation: You must maintain a minimum of 10 feet of clearance, free of all flammable vegetation and materials, around all heating and cooking equipment.
  • Spark Arresters: All equipment that produces sparks or embers must be equipped with an approved spark arrester.
  • Fire Extinguishing Equipment: A portable fire extinguisher or a charged garden hose must be immediately available.
  • Weather Conditions: Do not operate the equipment during windy conditions or when a Red Flag Warning is in effect. You must comply with any orders to cease operation from the Fire Department.
  • Constant Supervision: All equipment must be constantly attended while in operation.
