Overview
The 2026 Street Surface Seal Project is a key part of South San Francisco’s ongoing Pavement Management Program. This project focuses on preserving roadway conditions and extending pavement life in the Winston Manor and Serra Highlands neighborhoods. The work includes applying a protective surface treatment, commonly referred to as a “slurry seal,” to approximately 440,000 square yards of existing asphalt streets.
The project also includes several critical maintenance and safety enhancements:
- Structural Repairs – Repairing damaged pavement prior to sealing through localized base repairs and crack sealing to prevent water infiltration.
- Surface Treatment – Applying a full surface seal to protect the roadway from sun exposure and moisture, extend pavement life, and improve skid resistance.
- Safety Striping – Refreshing painted curbs and replacing worn pavement markings with new, high-visibility striping and pavement markings.
