On Tuesday, July 21st at 6 PM, The SSFPL Monthly Book Club will be discussing Who Is Government? The Untold Story of Public Service by Michael Louis, in the 2nd Floor Community Room, South San Francisco Library Parks and Recreation Building, 901 Civic Campus Way.
Who Is Government? The Untold Story of Public Service is a collection of essays edited by Michael Lewis who brought on a team of renowned writers—including Dave Eggers, Sarah Vowell, W. Kamau Bell, and Geraldine Brooks. The collection was created to challenge negative stereotypes about federal workers. It highlights unsung heroes by profiling civil servants whose behind-the-scenes efforts—from coal mine safety to the National Cemetery Administration—keep the country running.
Michael Lewis is an American financial journalist and bestselling author known for his books on Wall Street, sports, and politics. Born in New Orleans and educated at Princeton and the London School of Economics, he has been a contributing editor at Vanity Fair since 2009. He is the author of blockbuster hits adapted into major films, including Moneyball, The Blind Side, and The Big Short. His investigative non-fiction works include Liar's Poker, Flash Boys, The Fifth Risk, and Going Infinite.
