SSFPL Partners with Amgen to Foster Community Interest in Biology

On Thursday night, November 13, 2025, South San Francisco Public Library hosted Ittai Eres, a principal scientist for the South San Francisco biotech company Amgen. Library patrons learned about biology, genetics, and the breakthroughs in medicine that are being made through the study of the human genome. After engaging the audience with his presentation, Dr. Eres answered guests’ questions, of which there were many – so many, in fact, that the building closed before Dr. Eres could answer them all!  

Attendees commented that they were interested in more programs about biotechnology, climate science, lectures and hands on science events.
