South City Celebrates America's 250th Anniversary

This year, America marks its Semiquincentennial, or the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. South City is celebrating this important occasion with a year-long celebration of our history, our community, and the values that bring us together.  

Throughout the year, we invite you to take part in a wide range of events that reflect the many stories, cultures, and traditions that shape both our city and our country - from educational exhibits and author talks to family-friendly gatherings and community celebrations.  

These events are designed to do more than commemorate history; they’re an opportunity to connect with one another, learn something new, and take pride in the community we share.

Design the "I Voted" Sticker for South San Francisco! 

South San Francisco artists of all ages are invited to help design South City’s stickers for the November election. This is your chance to be part of the democratic process and leave your mark on a major civic moment. More information can be found on the "I Voted" Sticker Contest page. 

July 4 Parade & Community Picnic

The City of South San Francisco celebrated the country's 250th anniversary on Saturday, July 4th, 2026 with a community parade, live entertainment, a pet costume contest, car show, free food, and so much more. Read the 4th of July recap here!
