Food Truck Permits
If you are operating a food truck in South San Francisco, you must have the following permits:
- Business license & vending permit from the City of South San Francisco
- Mobile Food Facility Permit from the San Mateo County Health Department
How do I apply for a City business license & vending permit?
First, you will apply for a business license, and then the City will give you information about applying for a vendor permit.

What else do I need to know?
- You must provide a trashcan for your patrons to use.
- Clean up all trash around your food truck.
- Keep the sidewalk clear and open. Don’t block the sidewalk with tables or chairs.
- All disposable products (plates, bowls, utensils, etc.) must be non-plastic, fiber-based, and compostable, per the City’s Disposable Foodware Ordinance. For more information, visit the City's Sustainability Plans & Ordinances webpage.
