Permit Portal

The City of South San Francisco is excited to announce the launch of its new Clariti land management and permitting system starting September 14, 2026. This was a collaborative Citywide effort, with each department having unique requirements for issuing and managing permits, applications, and approvals. Also, this upgrade will improve operational efficiency, while providing a better experience for residents, businesses, contractors, and other applicants.

The new online permit portal will provide a more user-friendly interface and a streamlined application process. Applicants will be prompted with relevant questions during the intake process to reduce the amount of follow-up communication between applicants and staff.  Providing these services through a centralized online platform will reduce manual processes while giving applicants greater visibility into the status of their requests.   Furthermore, in addition to the standard Building, Fire and basic Engineering permits, applicants will now have the option to apply online for the following permit types:

  • Encroachment Permits
  • Bingo Permits
  • Special Events Permits
  • Private Event Permits
  • Film Permits, Animal Permits
  • Tree Permits
  • Traffic Advisory Committee Requests

Beginning Sunday, September 13, 2026, all applicants who have submitted a permit application within the last 5-years will receive an email invitation from the new platform to register and create a new password.  Information and instructions on how to apply for permits will be available on the City’s Permit Center webpage starting Friday September 11 at www.ssfca.gov/permitcenter.
