Celebrate the 4th of July with a visit to the historic Grand Avenue Library!

The City of South San Francisco is celebrating the 4th of July with a community parade and picnic along Grand Avenue. The Grand Avenue Library, located at 306 Walnut Avenue next to City Hall, will be open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on the day of the celebration and will be offering special activities from noon through 3:00 PM.

Activity highlights are:

  • Commemorate America’s 250th birthday with a themed photo in our photo booth. Prints are free. You will want to keep these forever!

  • Read facsimile copies of the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence. Pick up free copies of the Constitution as well.

  • Share your perceptions about the meaning of the Statue of Liberty on our interactive display that highlights Emma Lazarus’s poem “The New Colossus.”

  • Patriotic crafts for all ages! Unwind with coloring, express creativity by painting fireworks, or make red, white, and blue jewelry.

  • Enjoy the Library’s patio with bubbles, giant games, and more!

  • Kids and teens can pick up a Summer Learning Challenge reading log and a free book. Participate all summer long and win additional books and prizes along the way.
